Compton has Terps on top

Tucker (Ga.) athlete Myke Compton has a favorite.
Impressed with nearly everything about the school and football program, the talented 5-foot-8, 185-pounder says that Maryland has a strong lead for his services.

"I like where it is located," Compton said. "It's right there in between D.C. and Baltimore. But what I really like about it is that they have my major (business) and that program is like No. 1 in the country. I figure if I go there when I get out I can see myself having a good career."
He also has family in the area, which is a plus.
Compton, who will visit Maryland officially the weekend of Jan. 13, played host to Terps offensive line coach Tom Brattan during the contact period. That meeting led to Maryland vaulting into the lead for his services.
Compton, who is outstanding in the return game, said that the Terps plan to use him at running back. He rushed for 1,244 yards and 14 touchdowns this season at Tucker.
North Carolina, Memphis, Akron, Ball State, East Carolina and Kent also offered Compton a scholarship.
