Committed 3-star Cathey looking around

Versatile three-star Memphis (Tenn.) Westwood athlete Nikia Cathey has been committed to Mississippi State since January but that hasn't stopped him from looking around at other schools this spring.
So far, Cathey has camped at Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee and said interest from other schools is picking up. He particularly enjoyed the Ole Miss camp, where he said he felt like he performed well.

"The Ole Miss camp was a really challenging camp," he said. "They let you compete and do a lot of one-on-ones and really help you get your name out there."
Despite his looking around Cathey said things are going well with the Bulldogs after an initial rough patch when wide receivers coach Tim Brewster left for Florida State.
"Things have been good lately," he said. "Things slowed down at first when Coach Brewster left but things have picked back up after I went up there for a visit."
Cathey said he enjoyed the chance to see the Mississippi campus up close and spend time with players and coaches.
"I felt comfortable like back at home," he said. "It felt like this is my family and it feels good to be in a situation like that."
Still, Cathey is planning on keeping a busy travel schedule during the month of July.
"I'm probably going to Ohio State at the end of the month and I'm going to LSU for three days, too," he said. "Then when I come back I'm going to go back to Mississippi State."
Cathey said his main goal at camps is to "get interest and offers and get my name out there" but reiterated that he's still committed.
As far as which schools might be the next to offer, Cathey said his performance this month could do a lot to help him add to his list.
"I think Ole Miss, Tennessee and Auburn are close," he said. "Ohio State really wants to see me in camp. They've been down here to watch me. One of their coaches came to my spring game and I did well. I hope they offer."
