Commitment No. 2 For Tech

The Virginia Tech coaching staff received their second oral commitment of this recruiting season on Wednesday night.
"Kory has committed to Virginia Tech," said Ridgeway (Va.) Magna Vista head coach Joe Beckelheimer of defensive end Kory Robertson. "He lives with his grandparents right now and he didn't want travel to be a burden. He also really liked the location, the campus and the coaches have always been down to earth. It was just the right fit."

Robertson stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 270 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds and is an agressive pass rusher. As a junior he registered eight sacks with 42 tackles.
"We play a 4-4 defense and we moved Kory around quite a bit," said Beckelheimer. "We'd line him up on different sides and slide him to the middle in short yardage. Last year he was still learning the game but teams had to account for him on every play by around week six or so."
Robertson was recruited by Kevin Rogers and joins Centreville standout Matt Welsh in the Hokies recruiting class of 2003. Robertson has no plans to camp anywhere this summer and saw the Tech campus for the first time during the ESPN photo shoot held two weeks ago.
"He had a verbal offer from East Carolina and was also being recruited by Virginia," said Beckelheimer. "He also got a lot of mail from Maryland, Pitt, Marshall and West Virginia."
Beckelheimer feels that Robertson is a typical Virginia Tech recruit.
"He's not the biggest name in the world and we're not a big school," he said. "But Kory's potential is sky high and once he gets coaching and added strength at Tech, he'll be a terrific pickup for them."
