Commitment nearing for Willis

Often times, the homestretch is simple.
One visit remains on Ryan Willis' schedule. He'll hit Kansas State for the Wildcats' spring game. And when that trip comes to a close, it will likely be decision time. The timetable isn't set in stone. There's no commitment date scheduled, but things will end swiftly nevertheless.

The Shawnee (Kan.) Bishop Miege High School quarterback is almost ready to end his recruitment. This he knows.
"It will probably be during May," Willis said. "I have a pretty good idea of the schools I am really considering. I'll commit in May."
According to Willis, Kansas, Kansas State and Illinois are the schools recruiting him the hardest at the time being. He doesn't call the group his "final three" or anything of the sort. But it sure seems as though the trip is receiving strong consideration.
Still, Willis insists he's made no decision.
"I'm still trying to narrow it down to three school," he said. "I have a pretty good idea but it's not official. I'm not ready to rule any out totally. I just have a good feeling."
Willis also has a good feeling about the driving force behind his pending decision. Willis is familiar with every coaching staff recruiting him. He's toured the campuses of most of the involved schools as well. What's important to him now, however, is the look of a program's depth chart.
Bullet point No. 1 on Willis' checklist is a recruiting classic.
"Getting on the field and playing," he said. "I mean, I'm not looking to start as a freshman because that's really, really rare. I just want to be able to get on the field and play pretty quickly."
As a junior, Willis helped Bishop Miege a 9-2 record. He threw for 2,267 yards and 23 touchdowns despite missing a pair of games with a concussion.
