Commitment drought ends for BC

The Boston College Eagles have gone a few weeks without a verbal commitment while some of their Big East rivals have been cleaning up. Now it looks like the drought is over.
"I've decided to attend Boston College," said McKeesport (Pa.) McKeesport Area safety Ray Lankford. "I haven't told the coaches yet but I plan on it either before or after their bowl game today. I'm really excited about it and I know they will be too."

Lankford, who is now 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, chose the Eagles for many reasons.
"It came down to BC and UConn with Iowa in there as well," said Lankford, who had more than 10 offers. "It all started with my visit to BC, I just felt very comfortable and got that feeling while I was on the trip. I really had a great time and I liked the small campus and big city combination. BC just seemed like the best fit for me."
Lankford isn't sure what position he'll end up playing at BC.
"I'll start off as a safety I think and then I'll probably grow into an outside linebacker," he said. "BC told me I'd probably be big enough to play linebacker after a year or two in the weight room."
