Rivals250 wide receiver Troy Stellato made the call for Clemson on Friday afternoon, adding another dangerous weapon to an offense already equipped with plenty of others. The four-star prospect’s pledge also represents yet another Tiger recruiting victory in the state of Florida, where the team is experiencing massive success annually. Below, Rivals.com examines what Stellato’s decision means for Clemson and what Dabo Swinney is getting.

WHAT CLEMSON IS GETTING

Stellato is as battle tested as receivers come. He plays for one of the country’s elite 7v7 teams and has impressed against true blue-chip competition on the high school level. As a junior, the long, explosive wideout had one of his best games against a secondary that includes Rivals100 defensive backs Corey Collier and Jason Marshall. In that game, Stellato torched the state’s most touted defense and willed his team to a 23-21 victory. That’s all to say there should be no doubt Clemson’s newest commit’s game translates to the college level.

An explosive weapon that runs relatively crisp routes, Stellato’s sure hands are often overshadowed by his athleticism. And while the four-star prospect seems to lack hyper-elite top-end speed, his long arms and quick change of direction seem to make up for it.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE TIGERS

Clemson continues to get essentially anything it wants in Florida. Stellato’s commitment gives the Tigers three Sunshine State-based commits in the 2021 class and 17 since 2018. Of those 17 commits, 12 of them have been ranked four stars or higher. No program recruits Florida as efficiently. Dabo Swinney’s success in the country’s most fertile recruiting ground is one of the keys to his sustained success and Stellato’s commitment seems to indicate that momentum isn’t stalling just yet.

Stellato’s 7v7 team, South Florida Express, is chock-full of prospects, including 2023 star Brandon Inniss and countless other high profile recruits in the classes of 2021 and 2022.. There are few better programs with which to have a in when it comes to recruiting.
