North Carolina continues to load up in their 2024 recruiting class, landing their latest commitment from Nashville (Tenn.) Franklin Road Academy offensive tackle Luke Masterson on Saturday.

The three-star talent has family ties to North Carolina and grew up a fan of the Tar Heels, so his commitment is something he's dreamed about for a while.

ON NORTH CAROLINA:

"My dad actually went to law school there, so I've always grown up a fan of North Carolina. I like Coach (Randy) Clem(ents), he's a good guy. He coaches hard, tough football and I like that about him."

WHAT THE TAR HEELS ARE GETTING:

At 6-foot-6, 270-pounds, Masterson is an athletic offensive tackle with a lot of bend and quickness to his game. That combination of traits made him a very desirable prospect during the offseason as programs like Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Ole Miss, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Louisville also were in pursuit.

Masterson also displays his athleticism off the gridiron. He wrestles for his high school and also throws shot put and discuss. He previously played lacrosse for the last seven years as well.

WHY IT'S BIG FOR NORTH CAROLINA:

For the Tar Heels, Masterson becomes the seventh commitment in the 2024 class and the third offensive lineman, joining Desmond Jackson and Andrew Rosinski. Masterson is rated a 5.6, three-star prospect and the No. 29 player in the state of Tennessee.

It's clear, North Carolina head coach Mack Brown and his staff have put an emphasis on offensive line recruiting in this year's class. So far, that effort has paid off with three talented commitments up front that can be a big part of the future.
