THE SITUATION

Texas got a major jump start to its 2020 recruiting class with the addition of Rivals250 offensive lineman Logan Parr on Sunday. The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Parr chose the Longhorns over a host of other programs, including Michigan, LSU, Oklahoma. Parr's commitment comes less than two months after initially adding an offer from Texas and is surprising considering many programs are still jumping in with new offers on a near weekly basis.

WHY IT'S BIG FOR TEXAS

It's never too early to start building a recruiting class and now the Longhorns have commitments at two key positions, quarterback and offensive line, in the 2020. Parr joins fellow four-star Hudson Card in the class and the early pledge from both Texas natives shows just how much weight the Longhorns offer carries. As far as on the field, Parr is a versatile offensive lineman and could play guard or tackle at the next level. His athleticism jumps out on film and he still has plenty of room to grow, both in terms of his physical size and his ceiling as a player.

WHY IT HURTS THE SCHOOLS THAT MISSED

Because it's so early in the process it's tough to point out a true loser when it comes to Parr's commitment, but it is worth noting that several of the Longhorns rivals were also in pursuit of Parr. Oklahoma recently hosted him for a visit and the battles on the recruiting trail are always highly competitive between the two rivals. Michigan also recently entered the mix for Parr, offering him and hosting him for a visit, but as it turns out it was too little too late for the Wolverines. In recent years, several programs outside of the state have taken advantage of the Longhorns struggles to reach into the state and poach prospects like Parr, but the success Texas is having this year clearly has the attention of the state's best recruits.
