Commitment Breakdown: Rivals250 CB Devin Moore to the Florida Gators

After the changeover on the Gators’ coaching staff, head coach Billy Napier and Co. started fresh with the 2022 recruiting class targeting prospects that fit their mold regardless of recruiting rankings or the evaluations of the previous staff. Needing a big win along the recruiting trail, Florida made a statement landing four-star cornerback Devin Moore.

WHAT THE GATORS ARE GETTING

Listed as a top-15 player nationally at corner, Moore is as talented as any other player in his class. Covering 6A Florida receivers for Naples High School, Moore was running with the best of the best holding down future SEC competition. Opposing coordinators choose to avoid directly attacking him calling underneath routes in hopes of still being able to use his side of the field.

WHAT MAKES DEVIN MOORE DIFFERENT

Moore is not the typical cornerback. Stretching the tape at 6-foot, 2-inches, while weighing in at 180 pounds, he is a big corner that can take on the growing desire for tall receivers in the nation’s best college football conference. Another added element to his game, with his long arms, he can jam at the line throwing receivers off their routes and he can play off-man.

Moore is not a speed burner per se but flashed his straightaway separation on special teams with the Golden Eagles taking back two kicks for 170 yards. On defense, what helps make him a Rivals250 caliber talent is his ability to read plays and react at an elite level. Knowing what is coming will outweigh 4.3 speed every Saturday during the fall.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR FLORIDA

Effectively starting over, the Gators began the week ranked 81st in the nation… an unfamiliar spot for Florida fans. Rebuilding the recruiting class in just days, landing Moore is a tremendous win for the staff keeping the “Defensive Back University” theme going for years to come.
