THE SITUATION

Purdue struck it big in the state of Kentucky again, this time on Friday when the Boilermakers landed a commitment from Rivals250 wide receiver Milton Wright. The big-time playmaker and Louisville, Ky. native spurned in-state programs Louisville and Kentucky to head to West Lafayette and announced his commitment with little fanfare via his private Instagram account. Wright had a list that included many of college football's top programs, including Ohio State and Alabama.

WHY IT'S BIG FOR PURDUE

Wright is just the latest example of Purdue raiding Kentucky for a talented prospect and Boilermakers fans are hoping that he can produce similar results to freshman wide receiver Rondale Moore, a signee out of Kentucky in the 2018 class. While it's looked like Wright would land at Purdue for a while, he had extended flirtations with both Ohio State and Alabama and obviously took long looks at both in-state programs as well. The perception of beating the state programs is enough, but this one will go down as a national victory as well. With Louisville in disarray, Purdue coach Jeff Brohm and his staff did a great job on selling Wright a role in the Boilermakers offense and with Moore drawing attention from defenses, it's likely Wright can make an early impact on the outside. With excellent size and speed, Wright has proven that with a quality quarterback to get him the ball he's very tough to stop and he should be an impact player for Purdue in the future.

WHY IT HURTS FOR KENTUCKY, LOUISVILLE

Ohio State and Alabama have no issues recruiting nationally at wide receiver and it appears as if both had already moved onto other options. The same can't be said for Louisville, who would have loved to keep Wright close to home and desperately needed him, both because of his football skillset and for perception purposes considering how poorly things are going on the field this season. Kentucky is fresh off of landing a commitment from playmaking wide receiver Wandale Robinson last week, which softens the blow of missing on Wright somewhat. But for the same reasons that Moore and Wright will make a good pair at Purdue, Robinson and Wright would have been quite the duo at Kentucky. With the Wildcats offense struggling this season, even when the team is winning, adding a player like Wright would have been a big boost. With so much talk in the Bluegrass State about Moore's impact at Purdue, the same talking points will likely get mentioned again
