Commitment Breakdown: Markevious Brown to Ole Miss

THE SITUATION: Miami and Ole Miss looked to be the final two schools for Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy cornerback Markevious Brown, but there was really only a top one. The 6-foot, 170 pounder is from south Florida, so at one point, Brown looked to be Miami's to lose, but Ole Miss recruited him harder late, and over the last few weeks, the Rebels surged to the top. He has now inked with Ole Miss.

WHY ITS BIG FOR OLE MISS: Ole Miss is closing as strong as anyone the last week or so, and to go into Florida, for a player that had a strong offer list like Brown, and to get him out says a lot about Lane Kiffin and his staff. Brown is coming out of IMG Academy, so he will be prepared to compete for early playing time in Oxford. The momentum on this day, and over the last few weeks will only carry over to the off-season and into the next recruiting cycle for Ole Miss. Kiffin is one of the most talked about coaches today, and all is positive. Pulling a kid of Brown's talent says a lot success Ole Miss is having on the recruiting trail.

RIVALS THOUGHTS ON BROWN: Brown has developed well over the last few years. He has gotten bigger, he has improved his technique and he has played against top competition. He has good length for a cornerback, he has battle physically with bigger receivers and he displays the ability to turn and run with good wide receivers. His ball skills look to be a strength as well. He has the frame to add weight, he is far from a finished product, and Ole Miss has a good one to work with here in Oxford.
