THE SITUATION
Taj Dodson has signed with the Kentucky Wildcats. Mark Stoops and his staff beat Syracuse, which was first to offer the Peach State defensive back. Dodson had a long list of offers, but he is headed to play in the SEC.
HOW IT HELPS KENTUCKY
Getting a top defensive back in Georgia is always a good thing. Over 20 schools such as Baylor, Louisville, Missouri and Ole Miss targeted him, so this is a big win for Kentucky.
As a prospect, Dodson is a versatile defensive back. He plays a lot of cornerback, but his home could be as a safety down the road. With his frame, it will be interesting to see where he ends up. He is physical defensive back with length and strength. Dodson is a player who could come in and have early impact. He is athletic, versatile and a hard worker.
WHO IT HURTS MOST
The loser here is Syracuse. You could put another handful of schools on this list, but the Orange offered first, they put a lot of effort in recruiting Dodson and they were hoping to put him on their signee list Wednesday. Dino Babers wants to add talent out of the South, and Dodson was a top target. So losing him late to Kentucky stings.
