Florida State’s 2023 class got tougher in the trenches on Wednesday with the addition of Christopher Otto. The three-star out of Key West (Fla.) is that ground and pound offensive tackle the Seminoles are looking for in the trenches.
WHAT FLORIDA STATE IS GETTING
When it comes to run blocking and planting a player in the ground, Otto is the embodiment of that at tackle. Gifted with size and a frame that will pack on more once in Tallahassee, Otto is the type of player that FSU backs will love to run behind.
Because of his advanced run blocking and size, expect Otto to start out in the interior with the opportunity to move to right tackle as his skills evolve. With the Conchs, Otto did more run blocking than pass-pro. Fans may have to be patient as that side of his game catches up with the rest of his skills. Once everything is put together, FSU got a steal in the 2023 class.
WHY THIS IS BIG FOR THE SEMINOLES
The game is won in the trenches and Otto can help be an enforcer against ACC competition. His film shows his determination for knockdowns and pancakes. Come the fourth quarter in a tight game, he’s the guy that can move the pile to help pick up the first down or the goal line score for the win.
