The Florida Gators continue to add impressive firepower to the 2023 class. Monday night, the Gators made a lot of noise flipping four-star Orange Park (Fla.) four-star offensive tackle Roderick Kearney.

WHAT FLORIDA IS GETTING

The Gators are getting a beast in the box in Kearney, and a versatile player. Kearney lines up at guard and tackle for his Orange Park High School team. Kearney has the size and strength to contribute early at Florida as an interior lineman. Adding Kearney to the class addresses a need on the roster and a hole in the recruiting haul with only Knijeah Harris and Bryce Lovett committed.

WHAT MAKES KEARNEY DIFFERENT

Kearny doesn’t just dominate with his size, he overpowers defenders with his strength and want to. A lot of high school big men can move the pile, but Kearney does it with a dog attitude that college offensive line coaches love. His down blocking and run blocking are on point. He has all the tools to be an exceptional pass protector in the SEC.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR THE GATORS

Florida has continued to go after the targets on their board, and with great success. In October alone, the Gators completed the flip of four-star corner Dijon Johnson away from Ohio State and now Kearney away from in-state rivals FSU. Wins like this on the recruiting trail sends messages. Do not be surprised to see other commits flipping the Gators’ way in the coming weeks.

The other plus for Florida on the commitment is the addition of a very good talent. Kearney may not be a towering offensive lineman, but he is an SEC talent. Coming to campus ready to play and with a good understanding of the playbook, Kearney is the type of player that can work into the two-deep his freshman season.

IN HIS WORDS

Kearney on his commitment to Florida, "Scare money don't make no money."
