A big day for Kentucky just got bigger signing four-star linebacker Jayvant Brown. Brown was committed to Michigan State on Nov. 13, decommitting on Dec. 18 to sign with the Wildcats on Wednesday.

WHAT KENTUCKY IS GETTING

Brown is bringing a winning pedigree with him from Florida. Working the box for national powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, Brown is accustomed to winning being one of the leading tacklers for the Raiders’ 2022 state championship team (14-0).

At linebacker, Brown can be that tone setter in the box shutting down the opposition’s run game. Reading his keys with a burst to the ball, Kentucky is getting a throw back linebacker to take on SEC teams.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR THE WILDCATS

Other SEC teams have been successful taking talent out of Florida, Kentucky is showing they can do the same. The Wildcats have success in the 2023 class in the region already with three-star defensive back Jaremiah Anglin. Developing that pipeline to South Florida would up the ante on dynamic athletes matriculating to Lexington.
