National Signing Day provides Hollywood cinema level of excitement to the die-hard recruiting fan knowing anything can happen. That uncertainty and the seemingly improbable happened with four-star Cedar Grove receiver Janiran Bonner. Committed to Georgia Tech on Feb. 1, a change of heart happened in an instant to Nebraska.

WHAT THE CORNHUSKERS ARE GETTING

Bonner is that big receiver that can help push the chains down the field. With his Saints squad, he ran a lot of screens, goes, and seams pulling down team-highs in receptions (50) and receiving yards (816) with nine scores going up on the board.

WHAT MAKES BONNER DIFFERENT

As collegiate cornerbacks get bigger, so are the receivers. Bonner has the size of the new prototypical receiver desired by college offensive coordinators. The four-star has sure hands with great field vision able to pick his way up field. Getting those extra yards, because of his size, he’s not afraid to lower his shoulder.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR NEBRASKA

Nebraska entered NSD slotted 45th in the country on the Rivals’ Team Rankings with 16 attached to the class that included two four-stars. To compete at a high level in the Big Ten, Nebraska has to match talent with talent against the likes of Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio State. Bringing in another offensive weapon that can help win games is big for the Cornhuskers.
