The draw to stay closer to home for college was influential for Lake City’s Jaden Robinson. The four-star backer from Columbia High School announced his change of heart flipping from South Carolina to Florida Wednesday night.

WHAT FLORIDA IS GETTING

Playing in the SEC, defenses have to have tone setters in the box, and that’s what Robinson is. Robinson was a punisher for his Tigers’ squad taking down 7A Florida teams. Playing outside backer, Robinson wastes no footwork reading over plays and reacts as quickly as anyone to the ball. When Robinson makes the move on the pigskin, he does it with authority.

WHAT MAKES ROBINSON DIFFERENT

Robinson is a tackling machine with athleticism and burst. He has that twitchy element to his game that can’t be taught, and a bellringing impact on his tackles that slows running backs down earlier in games. Florida is getting a future starter in coach Billy Napier’s scheme.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR FLORIDA

Any time a conference rival can flip a commit, that’s a win. Keeping a four-star at home, that’s another win. Adding someone of Robinson’s talent, Florida hit the trifecta securing Robinson’s commitment. The addition of the in-state defender brings the Gators’ 2023 class to 17 commits consisting of 11 four-stars rated No. 15 nationally.
