Ole Miss worked the recruiting trail to the very end bringing top 2023 talent to Oxford. One of the big additions to the class was landing Florida sack master DeeJay Holmes. Holmes is a beast off the edge who will create chaos in SEC backfields.

WHAT MISSISSIPPI IS GETTING

Holmes is a relentless force to the ball, especially on passing downs. The three-star weakside defensive end out of Pahokee High School set a school record with 32.5 sacks during his senior campaign after a 19.5 sack season in 2021. His speed off the line is a difference maker coupled with his power. He has the wheels to work as an outside linebacker bringing versatility to the Rebels’ roster.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR THE REBELS

The SEC has become a passing conference. Any threat a squad can get off the edge to shut down offenses is a welcomed signing. Holmes has a chance to make noise with Ole Miss from Day 1.

Along the recruiting trail, Mississippi fought off late pushes from Colorado, UCF, USF, and Cincinnati for his signed National Letter of Intent.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Holmes ended his senior season credited with 117 stops and 41 QB hurries. He also forced four fumbles and had a pick-six on the stat sheet.
