Commitment breakdown: Andre Turrentine to Ohio State.

Andre Turrentine announced his commitment to Ohio State on Monday night, giving the Buckeyes their 13th commitment of the 2021 cycle and adding even more star power to the nation's No. 1 recruiting class. The Rivals250 safety is Ryan Day’s 11th 2021 pledge ranked four stars or higher. Below, Rivals.com has a look on what the commitment means for the program and what Ohio State is getting in the talented safety.

.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR OHIO STATE

The Buckeyes are riding the wave of momentum that came with last year's College Football Playoff beth. So while last cycle’s No. No. 5-ranked class was impressive enough, Day and company could improve on that standing this time around if things break correctly down the road.. Ohio State’s long history of producing NFL defensive backs certainly played a part in Turrentine’s decision. Also, a recruiting win over schools such as powerhouse Alabama, chief rival Michigan and Turrentine's home-state program Tennessee is certainly notable. On-field success tends to compound in college football and this is yet another example of that. Turrentine gives Ohio State commitments from six different states, a flex of the school’s national appeal.

WHAT OHIO STATE IS GETTING

Turrentine plays both wideout and defensive back for his high school but his future is in the secondary, where his instincts, ball skills and explosiveness make him a downright tantalizing prospect. As impressive as the Rivals250 member has been thus far, it’s clear that he’s just scratching the surface of his potential. His frame gives him plenty of room to add more muscle, and if he does so while retaining his elite athleticism, the sky's the limit for the four-star safety. He already possesses great length and a reputation for winning jump balls.
