Commitment breakdown: 2024 OL Marc Nave is a Buckeye

One of the nation's highest upside offensive line recruits, Marc Nave, has shut his recruitment down early by announcing his commitment to Ohio State. The Toledo (Oh.) Central Catholic star is listed as an offensive guard, but at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds he has the ability to slot in at a number of spots across the offensive line. This continues Ohio State's trend of recruiting versatile plug-and-play offensive lineman.

Nave had 20 offers including the likes of Louisville, Auburn, Pitt, Missouri, Cincinnati and others prior to announcing his decision via Twitter today.

WHAT OHIO STATE IS GETTING:

Nave is a big body bully in the trenches and his physical development over the past year has led to an incredible transformation as a player on the field. He plays under his pads with great bend and explodes off the ball with a a punishing punch to impose his will on defenders. Strength and physicality are two staples of the young offensive lineman's game, but you cannot overlook his overall athleticism and light feet at his size. While Nave is already an impressive player who has developed at a stunning rate over the course of a year, he is only scratching the surface of what he will eventually be as a player. Nave has an incredible ceiling, and should he continue to develop at his current rate, there is a chance he ends up becoming one of the highest rated interior lineman in the country.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR OHIO STATE:

This is another big in-state win as Nave would have likely become one of the most sought after offensive lineman in the country the longer his recruitment went on. Getting the commitment prior to the Spring Eval Period when college coaches from across the country would've had the opportunity to see and offer him in person is huge and will likely deter some of the nation's elite programs from visiting the school and entering the mix with his recruitment.

Nave becomes the second elite upside offensive lineman commit in the Buckeye's 2024 class joining No. 1 overall offensive tackle recruit Ian Moore. This is a huge step towards rebuilding an offensive line that is losing multiple players to graduation and the NFL draft. The future of Ohio State's offensive trenches looks bright when you combine last year's impressive offensive line haul with Nave and Moore in 2024. Ohio State will likely take as many as six offensive lineman in this class and keeping Nave home is a huge win.
