The Clemson Tigers have been on fire in June landing eight of their 11 commits for the 2023 class. Their latest commitment out of Georgia in strongside defensive end Victor Burley is a huge win for the coaching staff.

WHAT CLEMSON IS GETTING

The Tigers are getting a versatile piece to their defensive front in Burley. Working over 5A Georgia teams for Warner Robins, Burley is a true strongside end in the Demons’ 3-4 alignment. Burley is accustomed to crashing down disrupting the pocket working to the quarterback and beating the tackle off the edge.

WHAT MAKES BURLEY DIFFERENT

Burley’s physical stature makes him college ready. Listed at 6-foot, 4-inches, 275 pounds, the Tigers added a defensive piece that can contribute early with the opportunity to be a three to four-year starter. His ability and comfort working between the guard and tackle gives him experience most high school ends playing the edge do not get.

Adding to his size and strength, Burley uses different moves on passing downs to get to the quarterback, and when he gets there, he is bringing the pain. His skills against the run helped produce 54 tackles with 14 tackles for a loss during his junior season.

WHY THIS IS BIG FOR THE TIGERS

Odd to say a 10-win season is a down season for any program or coach, but Dabo Swinney has set the bar so high. While his ACC foes are smelling blood in the water, he is reloading with a fantastic 2023 recruiting class to date.

With former defensive coordinator Brent Venables now the head coach at Oklahoma, winning over four-star defenders like Burley speaks to what is going on at Clemson letting the fans know the victories will keep coming.
