Columbus star on the rise
Looking for the fastest rising player in Columbus and maybe the entire state of Ohio? Turn your attention to Columbus (Ohio) Mifflin athlete James Gilmore. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Gilmore has helped his team to a perfect 3-0 record with big plays on offense, defense and special teams.
“Last week, I had an interception and had a punt return for a touchdown,” Gilmore said.

“We were supposed to get beat the last two games, and they were big rivals. We beat up on them. Teams are afraid to kick to me now because I’ve become a good weapon on special teams.”
Gilmore’s quick start has sparked quite a bit of interest from the college coaches.
After an early scholarship offer from Ohio, Gilmore says he has picked up new offers from Wisconsin and Minnesota.
“Miami also just called my school this week to get my transcript,” he said. “So Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Miami are my top four teams.”
