Colorado TE ready to knock heads

Today is the first day of practices for Ft. Collins, Colo., tight end Derrick Catlett, and he’s really looking forward to getting back on the field.
“We’re going to have a big competition between the skill guys and the big guys in the weight room,” Catlett, who is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, said. “I’m really looking forward to getting back to football, though. I went to all the camps and got ready for it, and it’s been a long span.

“I’m ready now to knock some heads.”
Catlett, ranked as No. 11 player in Colorado by Rivals.com, said he’s worked hard this summer and is a better run blocker because of his added strength.
“I’m confident now when it comes to run blocking,” he said. “I could always drive people off the ball, but I looked strong on film than I really was. I feel better about what I’m doing now.”
Catlett still remains undecided on the recruiting front. He has offers from Cal and Iowa State. He’s hoping to hear soon if Kansas State will also come through with an offer.
“K-State was supposed to offer but they’ve not yet,” he said. “I don’t know what is going to happen with them. But I think they feel like a lot of other schools do – they want to see me after a couple of my first games.”
