Colorado TE/DE headed to Big 12

Colorado Springs (Colo.) Academy tight end/defensive end Sam Zimmerer decided to go ahead and end his recruiting process and make a verbal commitment.
“I just decided last week to go ahead and commit,” the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Zimmerer said. I made a verbal commitment to Colorado last Thursday.

“I am solid with this commitment. Nothing will change my mind. I’ve always been a Buffs fan. I’ve been here since first grade. We went up there on Wednesday for an unofficial visit so my mom could talk to the coaches. That meeting went well. They offered me really early on last year in June.”
Zimmerer had earlier favored Kansas State over the other schools he was being recruited by.
“I haven’t talked to K-State recently. I hadn’t heard anything from them and I just decided I needed to do what was best for me. I will probably visit Colorado in December sometime. I have not set a date to go there officially.”
Zimmerer was recruited as a defensive end for the Buffs.
“Colorado recruited me for defensive end. Oregon and Kansas State were recruiting me as a tight end. I’m happy with playing defense.”
