Colorado State lands Oklahoma TE

After grabbing early commitments in state, Colorado State expand its horizons by landing another commitment from Tulsa (Okla.) Union tight end Jacob Tigges.
"Yeah I committed to Colorado State," Tigges, who is 6-foot-2 and 253 pounds, said. "I committed about a month before school in late July."

Apparently Tigges felt right at home despite being out of state and it seems to be the perfect fit for him.
"I just really like the environment there," he said. "The coaching staff is great. They've got coaches that have coached in the pros and players that have been in the pros. They just (renovated) their whole locker room. I just really like the atmosphere."
However, what might have made the biggest impact on Tigges decision, could have been the recruitment from Colorado State tight end's coach Dave Arnold.
"Coach Arnold, their tight end coach, he's a great guy," Tigges said. "He's coached in the pros before, and I just really like how he coaches. I love his coaching style. All the coaches were really nice and all, but I really liked him. He was just really laid back."
The commitment came at a time that Tigges felt comfortable with it. Despite constant attention from the Rams, he says they weren't trying to force him into a commitment.
"They weren't pushing me real hard to the point where I was feeling pressured," he said. "They just wanted what was right for me and what was right for my family. Of course they called and texted me all the time, but they weren't over pressuring me or anything like that."
As far as playing time goes it appears as if there are plenty of options available. Tigges feels comfortable with his chances of playing early especially with all the options the Rams gave him.
"We actually have a couple guys up there," Tigges said about CSU's success in Tulsa. "One played as a freshman and the other played as a juco guy. We haven't talked much about when I would play because I switched positions. But they said they don't care. They know what I can do. They're just happy to have me as a commit. They said I have three other options I can go. I can play fullback. I can put on some weight and play pulling guard, or I can play defensive line."
Despite all of his options, Tigges still holds one position over the rest.
"I love running over people, and I love scoring so tight end is my number one choice," he said.
As for their first out of state commit, don't worry about Tigges feeling out of place.
"I've been up there several times, and I like the campus a lot," he said. "I like the town a lot, too."
So while Tigges will have to find his home at a position, he has already found a good home in Fort Collins.
