Ty Evans committed to Colorado in mid-January, after an earlier pledge to Arkansas.
That has not stopped many schools from recruiting the three-star quarterback from Monument (Colo.) Palmer Ridge. If anything, Evans has seen things get even busier.
Since late January, Evans has landed offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Alabama.
“I had been talking to coaches at ‘Bama about my film, my weight gain to 190-plus and my arm versatility for a while,” Evans said. “They said their staff liked my film and how I improved running and speed-wise this year. It was awesome to hear coach (Nick) Saban felt the same. They asked me to call them one day after school and offered, which coming from ‘Bama was awesome. I’ve been working on speed and agility three days a week for over a year so it was a huge payoff.
“The A&M offer was definitely a surprise. I had read about how (Grant) Gunnell de-committed. It was flattering to have coach (Jimbo) Fisher, who has developed some great QBs, say I can make every throw on the field and that I could make throws with my body off-balance and off-platform. Coming from a coach like him it makes the work all worth it - like this morning when I was out throwing in the wind and 30 degrees. If you can throw in Colorado weather you can throw anywhere. So I shoot him a call on my way to school and they offer. Both offers I felt blessed to receive. I mean talk about two programs with winning cultures, right?”
Rated as the No. 10 quarterback in the 2019 class, Evans said he’s also impressed by the Michigan and Ole Miss offers but remains committed to the Buffaloes. This early in the recruiting process, the three-star quarterback said he's not going to turn away any school but that his Colorado commitment stands.
“I had the same discussions about my game with coach (Jim) Harbaugh (last) week,” Evans said. “Which is another coach I think is a QB guru. I mean in the past few weeks having gotten offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Texas A&M is every athlete’s dream.”
