“I would say most schools are recruiting me as a linebacker,” Ryan said. “I don’t really care, but I think defense is where I will end up. I just like to play.”
Ryan is currently in the hunt for the state title in wrestling having lost only one match.
“It’s been a lot of fun this year,” he said. “The state tournament is coming up and I’m hopeful things will go well.”
Things are going well on the recruiting trail for Ryan with interest coming from Colorado, Colorado State, Nebraska, Oregon and Wyoming.
“I don’t have any scholarship offers yet,” he said. “I think the early interest is a good sign for me. The schools that are in touch with me have been talking about seeing me in action this fall and going from there. I’m just working hard to get to that point.”
As a junior, Ryan recorded 168 tackles and 12 quarterback sacks on defense. He had over 500 yards receiving as a tight end.
