Collie collars 12 offers

After an outstanding summer, things are looking up for El Dorado Hills, Calif., wide receiver Austin Collie. Collie currently has 12 offers, but he’s more concerned with his high school football team. The real reason that Collie is excited is not the attention he is garnering; rather, the chance to play football again.
“Everything is really coming together for this team,” Collie said. “I am so ready for the football season. I can’t wait just coming out onto the field, and getting all hyped up for the opening kickoff.”

Collie’s opponents aren’t hyped about kickoff, especially after the young wide receiver torched them a year ago for 56 receptions for 870 yards and 13 touchdowns.
“I think I do everything well. My routes are crisp, I have good hands, I’m not afraid to run over the middle, and my favorite part is running after the catch. What else is there to a receiver?”
The fact that Collie is a jack-of-all-trades helps to explain why he holds twelve offers.
Among Collie’s offers are Colorado, Arizona, Stanford, Oregon State and Washington State. Collie has many options, and he wants to see how they will play out.
“Really, I am still looking at everyone. I haven’t seen most of these schools. I’m still open to anybody.”
“I know a lot about Stanford and BYU, but other than them, I am just going off of what I know about their football tradition when it comes time to narrow my list.”
That time won’t come anytime soon. Collie plans to wait on a decision. In fact, he doesn’t even want to take his visits before the end of his season.
“I want to wait to take my official visits. I think a typical visit during the season is just to see the game and stay in a hotel. I want to see much more of the school. I want to look at overall education, and I want to know if I can fit in and have a good comfort level.”
Expect Collie to take a few game day visits on his own coin to nearby Cal and Stanford, and a visit to the city of sin for a UNLV game.
“I have been to the Cal-Stanford game before. That is an amazing atmosphere. Everything is so crazy before the game. They really get wild.”
“I want to go to at least one UNLV game, because my best friend plays quarterback there. He will be second on the depth chart this year, so he might get a chance to play.”
