Collie back from UNLV

El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge wide receiver Austin Collie returned earlier today from UNLV where he took his first official visit of the year.
"He had a very good time," Austin's father Scott said. "He really likes UNLV's receiver coach, Garrick McGee. "I think that was probably one of the highlites of the visit. Shane Steichen, who was Austin's quarterback at Oak Ridge last year, was his host and he enjoyed seeing Shane again. UNLV played well against Colorado State and Austin enjoyed the game day atmosphere and just had a really good time overall."

Collie, 6-1, 185 pounds has had a big senior year and is one of the leading candidates for state Player of the Year honors. This past weekend, Oak Ridge pounded Vallejo (Calif.) Bethel 34-0 in the opening round of the playoffs and Collie led the way with eight catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns and also kicked two field goals.
"Austin will be at the Stanford- Notre Dame game this weekend on an unofficial trip and then will take his official visit there (Dec. 5)," Scott Collie said. "The rest of his trips are still the same, Arizona State (Dec. 12) and BYU (Jan. 16)."
Stanford and BYU still appear to be leading the pack and look for Collie to make his decision sometime in late January. One other thing to possibly watch. USC offensive coordinator Norm Chow coached Scott Collie at BYU and is close with the family. If Arizona makes a run at Chow and is able to sign him, the Wildcats would immediately be one of the favorites to land Collie.
