This versatile athlete can play a number of positions and he will have to factor that into his college decision.
Right now Murphy's list of schools include Texas Christian, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Southern Methodist, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas State. The latter three schools are recruiting him to play defensive back and the others want him to play quarterback.
Although he has not received any offers yet, he is receiving regular mail from the above schools.
Distance will not be a factor with Murphy's decision.
"At this time I'm still wide open," Murphy said, "some teams want me as a quarterback and others want me as a defensive back. I would like to start out as a quarterback, but I will play any spot they want me to."
Rickey will work on rounding his game out this year. "I'm a very good runner at quarterback," Murhpy said, "but this year the team is going to do more passing to balance the attack and I will be able to refine my passing skills."
Murphy camped at TCU and Texas A&M this summer. He has not taken any unofficial visits.
"Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame would definitely be on my list of teams to see," Murphy said. "I would like to take my visits and make my decision by mid to late in the season.''
Murphy plans on studying computer programming in college.
