Colleges beginning to find Louisiana safety
Deridder, La. is not exactly on the way to anything. West of Baton Rouge, East of Houston and South of Shreveport, the remote town of only about 10,000 residents may not be a typical stop for most Louisiana visitors but Deshazor Everett has at least given college coaches a reason to stop by.

Everett, a 6-foot-0 170-pound safety, has emerged to spark the interest of numerous colleges and already has a few offers to his credit. That list of offers may increase as more colleges actually find him.
"Ole Miss has offered," Everett said of his early options. "They sent the letter already. The Arkansas coach said that they were sending the offer letter. I talked to the Memphis coach today and he said he was sending one. Ole Miss came about two weeks ago."
For his part, Everett has yet to formulate much of an opinion on any of his early offers, though he is excited about the opportunities.
"The Ole Miss offer was a big surprise," he said. "I was excited about it. The first day I talked to them was the day he told me about the offer. Besides them beating LSU, I don't really know much about them. I've never really watched college football."
Though Everett has never followed college football very much, that's not to say that he doesn't love the game. He has been playing football since he was 11 years old and he is all over the field for his Deridder team. As a junior, he had 109 tackles and five interceptions, but it's not easy to get him to talk about his successes.
"We did good as a team," he said. "I guess I played pretty well. I don't like to brag about how I played or anything. I'm more focused on next year. This year is already over."
Though the season is over, Everett still has basketball to worry about and he and his teammates are currently in the playoffs. Aside from that, he has had some opportunities to deal with recruiting as well.
Everett took a visit to Texas A&M for its junior day, his first trip to a college junior day.
"It had nice facilities," he said. "The coaches seemed pretty cool. We talked to some of the players and they said that what you see in the coach is what you're going to get."
Along with his three offers and Texas A&M, Louisiana Tech and Utah are included among the schools that have expressed interest.
