Coleman firm with Arkansas

Coming back from an ankle injury has been time consuming for Camden (Ark.) wide receiver Rod Coleman, so his commitment to Arkansas would have brought a needed break from recruiting. Instead, a number of schools have kept ringing his phone, despite Coleman’s insistence that his pledge to the Razorbacks is solid.
“My past two games the ankle has felt all right,” Coleman said. “I’m close to having it at 100 percent, and I’m almost back to moving around on the field at full speed.

“There are a few schools still calling me, but I’ve told them that I already made my mind up. Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma State, Louisiana-Monroe, Nebraska, Memphis and Arkansas State keep calling, and Arkansas State has given me an offer. I think others are close to offering with them, but I’m going to Arkansas.”
An official visit to Fayetteville might quell some doubters, and Coleman said he intends to make a trip to see the campus in the future.
“I haven’t set any visits, but I’m going to set one up for Arkansas after their season is over,” he said. “I fell in love with Arkansas when I was at their senior camp, and I just went from there. I’m excited, because they’re mainly talking about playing me at wide receiver.”
With wide-out being Coleman’s likely future destination, it’s understandable that the speedy 6-foot-2 receiver tries to play like one of the NFL’s top stars at the position.
“I love how Randy Moss gives it his all and lays himself on the line for a catch,” Coleman said. “I try to play like Moss that way, and let the game come to me. It’s worked so far. We’re 6-3, and we clinched the playoffs last Friday with a win over Pine Bluff.”
