Coker picks up ACC offer

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha running back Marcus Coker pulled his first offer not too long ago. The 6-foot-1, 227-pounder landed the scholarship from the ACC.
"I got my first offer about a week ago from Maryland," he said. "I'm just happy to get it and hoping to get a lot more.

"It was a milestone for me, all that hard work pays off."
What does Coker think of Maryland?
"I just like the way they run their program," he said. "They run it much like DeMatha does, it's school oriented and football is still important."
Maryland isn't the only school showing interest as Coker is hearing from Kansas State and Minnesota as well.
Does he like anybody?
"Not really," he said. "I would like to go somewhere down south. I like Georgia because I grew up liking them."
The Maryland prospect is looking for a few things in a college.
"Football wise, I want a team that is power running they like to run the ball," he stated. "I want somewhere that doesn't do trickery, they know how to power run and know how to do it well. School wise, I want to be successful in life and am looking at astronomy or a close second is accounting."
On the field, Coker posted over 1,000-yards and 19 touchdowns in just nine games.
"We won the championship and went 10-2," he said. "I did well, I could have done better. I missed three games because of injuries with a high ankle sprain and concussion. I'm doing well now."
Coker reflected on his ability.
"I think I read defenses well before the snap," he said. "I pretty much know what they are going to do. I'm a good downhill runner, north and south and my football IQ is good."
