Coffeyville DB loves visit

Coffeyville (Kan.) Coffeyville C.C. cornerback Kevin Funches took his first official visit this weekend to Akron.
And unless things change, it looks like it'll be the last visit for the 6-foot, 190-pounder originally from Kansas City, Kan.

"The visit was really good," Funches said. "I really liked the facilities. They have an up-and-coming program. I can definitely see myself playing there. They talked about how I could be a factor in their defense right away.
"The coaches said they think I could play for them early on. They offered me a scholarship."
And it looks like it's and offer he plans on accepting.
"I'm going to sign with Akron unless somebody like Kansas comes through and offers me a scholarship," Funches said. "I guess you could say I gave them a verbal. I told them I would know 100 percent by January 5 what's going to happen.
"Bowling Green's coaches said they're going to call me tomorrow, and we'll see about that, but right now unless Kansas offers then I'm going to go to Akron. Kansas doesn't really call me that regularly. It's been a while since I've heard from them, but when you grow up in Kansas you always want to look hard at your home-state school."
Funches had four interceptions in two games in 2006 and was one of the Coffeyville's best overall defenders.
