Aaron Cochran is a top-notch 2013 prospect and his brother, Matt, just signed with Cal so the Golden Bears look good in his recruitment but it's not a done deal that he'll sign there.
That's the message from Cochran, that he's still open to all programs and really doesn't plan to make his commitment until after the all-star games next year or possibly even closer to signing day.
Rivals.com rates Cochran as the No. 98 prospect in the new 2013 class rankings.
"I feel like it's a family (at Cal) but nothing has really changed," Cochran said. "It's all pretty much the same interest with all the schools recruiting me.
"We don't really talk about it too much as brothers. The last time we really talked about recruiting is when he committed at the Marines game.
"I'm going to take it up until the All-American games, maybe even after that, but I'm not going to make any decisions early on."
So far, Cal, Colorado, Washington and Washington State have offered the 6-foot-6, 320-pound prospect who looked good last year at the Los Angeles NIKE Camp and solid during his junior year.
But Cochran is not rushing things and would like to hear from more programs.
Oregon is showing lots of interest and he is planning a trip to USC at some point this off-season as well. He will be at Cal's junior day on Feb. 18. Many other offers are expected to come in as his senior season gets closer.
"I want to see what interest I get in from the other schools and I want more options," Cochran said. "Colorado is mostly talking to me and I'm obviously hearing from Cal a lot."
