Cochran close to SEC offer

Matt Cochran should hear in the next couple weeks whether Alabama is going to offer and while it would be big if the Crimson Tide got on his list the Atwater (Calif.) Buhach center still plans to wait out his decision.
"There's not a lot going on, it's actually a pretty quiet period for me, but I've been talking more with Alabama so it's looking all right," Cochran said.

"The coaches have been telling me I have one more week to wait before I know anything because they're going to evaluate the people at the last camp.
"The coach thinks it's good news. He's going to talk with coach (Jim) McElwain and coach (Nick) Saban so I'm just hoping for the best right now. It would mean a lot but I've said this plenty of times before. I still have to weigh out all my offers the same."
Cochran, a 6-foot-4, 340-pound prospect, said he is planning to take one or two official visits during the season and then will probably take the others in December or January before making his commitment.
Although Cochran said he still has a lot to think about in terms of favorites he stated Cal, Stanford and Washington are three programs that do stick out. Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, SMU, UCLA, Utah and others have also offered.
Rivals.com rates the three-star recruit as the third-best center nationally and No. 51 in the California state rankings.
"Stanford and Cal stick out a lot so far," Cochran said. "I like all the coaches from Stanford and the same with Cal also.
"Washington also sticks out. We went up there and talked to all those guys. What I like most about coach (Steve Sarkisian) is he relates to the players a lot more than other schools."
