The offers on the table in front of Brian Lewerke haven't changed.
Invitations from Arizona State and UCLA still stand. The Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle High School quarterback is mulling them, but he might be on the verge of having more to consider. Word on the four-star prospect is out and coaches are filing into his school to get a look.
"I had quite a few coaches come by this week," Lewerke said. "Washington came by today. Stanford and Arizona came by yesterday."
Lewerke has trouble guessing which school may be the next to offer. And because his in-person conversations with college coaches are limited by NCAA rules, he's just guessing when he discusses where he stands in the minds of various college programs.
"Arizona says Rich Rodriguez should be down at my school in the next week or so," Lewerke said. "Stanford, they're just sort of starting out the recruiting process. This is, like, the first contact. With Washington, I have talked to the coaches over the phone, so this was the first time they dropped by my school."
Next up will be Oklahoma State, which Lewerke says plans to stop by his school sometime in the coming week. Things between the 2015 prospect and the Cowboys haven't gotten serious yet, but the visit could represent a turning point in the relationship.
"Hopefully, it will keep picking up," Lewerke said.
Lewerke plans to attend junior days at both Arizona State and UCLA in the near future. But while both schools have already extended a scholarship offer, he's careful when it comes to separating the two. In his mind, it's too early to play favorites.
"I think they are all still kind of on the same playing field right now," Lewerke said. "I talk to ASU and UCLA coaches equally."
Lewerke is ranked as the No. 240 player in the class of 2014. As a junior at Pinnacle, he threw for 2,780 yards and 33 touchdowns. He completed 52 percent of his passes and tossed nine interceptions.
