Coach talks about Rivals250 RB Whaley

Rivals250 to watch running back Kevin Whaley out of Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem holds one offer, but is getting plenty of interest. Rivals.com caught up with the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder's head coach Robert Jackson to get the full scoop on his star tailback.
"He's a dynamic football player," he said. "When I was coaching at Norfolk State, I noticed him as a freshman and little did I know down the line I'd be able to coach him. He's a heads up football player that does it all on offense defense and special teams. He's a guy that doesn't want to come off the field.

"As a running back, he's always going forward. He keeps the sticks moving and is a player that wants the football and is always up to the challenge. I hate to tag kids, but he's the type of guy I could see playing on Sundays. He's got a whole lot of upside to him and still has a lot of room for more."
What kind of person is Whaley off the field?
"He's a good kid, yes sir, no sir type of person," he said. "He's a leader around here and players around him look to his leadership. He does have a 2.4 GPA, but he has improved every year."
What's going on in his recruitment?
"He's getting a whole lot of interest from all over, Clemson, Connecticut, Georgia, Oregon, Virginia, Maryland and more," he said. "He does have an offer from Virginia Tech and is a big Florida State fan. Despite that, Kevin knows there's a business side to recruiting and he'll go wherever he's comfortable once he takes visits."
