Coach: Hogs, Vols battle for stars

Warren (Ark.) coach Bo Hembree says your guess is as
good as his when it comes to handicapping the race for two of his star players, WR

Bret Smith(pictured at right) and WR/DB
Terrance Hampton.
"You wouldn't believe the calls I've had this week,"
Hembree said. "'Coach, tell me where these kids are going. We can't get them to
talk.' I say, 'What makes you think I can get them to talk?' (Laughs) That's just the way
they are. They've kept it pretty tight-lipped with everybody.
"With Bret, I think we're going to find out about 10
a.m. Wednesday morning. And I have no clue on him whether it's Arkansas or
Tennessee. If someone was going to pay me a million dollars, I still couldn't
tell the team.
"I think it's going to be Arkansas for Terrance, but
Tennessee is coming in here tomorrow to make one last all-out push, so we'll
see. Arkansas and Tennessee are both supposed to be here tomorrow and plan on
spending most of the day with them, so it's a pretty good battle shaping up."
Smith (6-3, 175, 4.5) is a four-star prospect ranked the
No. 14 wideout in the nation. Hampton (5-11, 190, 4.5) is a three-star player
who could project on either side of the ball.
A third Warren star, defensive back
RoShawn Fellows, has long been committted to Tennessee.
"From everything he tells me, he's going to stick with
them, but Arkansas is still pushing hard. They're not giving up on him," Hembree
said. "I don't think we'll know for sure until signing day."
