Close Race For DB

The race for the services of McKeesport (Pa.) McKeesport Area safety Ray Lankford is a tight one. Oddly enough, one of the leaders is a team that hasn't offered him yet.
"Right now top teams are Northwestern, Syracuse, Pitt, Boston College and Iowa," said the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder. "There are a few others, but those are the ones that stand out. I have offers from all of them expect for Northwestern."

Lankford knows what he wants in a school.
"I want small class sizes and good academics," he said. "I also want a team that will be competitive. I don't need to go to a team that wins national championships every year, but I do want to go to some bowl games."
Lankford has 25 tackles in three games so far this season and has scored two touchdowns as a running back on offense. He plans on setting up some visits soon.
"I know I'll take a look at Northwestern and Boston College because they have great academic reputations," he said. "Northwestern said they'll offer shortly. I'm going to take some official visits before I decide."
