Cleodis Floyd is MWC Bound

Colorado State picked up a commitment from Compton JC (Calif.) defensive lineman Cleodis Floyd. Floyd announced for the Rams during a home visit last night.
“I’m very excited to be going there,” Floyd said. “They have a great coaching staff that is known for defense and I know I’ll have a chance to come in and play right away. They only have three other defensive tackles on the roster so I’ll be in the two deep from day one. Colorado State is ranked in the top 25 every year and they always play a great schedule.

“Next year, non-conference they play USC to open the season, plus Minnesota and Colorado. They also have two Thursday night ESPN games and two other games that will be on ABC so the exposure is great. I’ll have three years to play three since I already used up a redshirt year and I think that was a big plus for them, the fact that I’ll be able to stay for three years rather than two like a lot of JUCO transfers.”
Floyd, 6-1, 295 pounds, also visited Colorado and was looking at tripping to Nebraska this weekend but didn’t want to risk losing his scholarship at CSU.
“Nebraska wanted me to visit but said they couldn’t guarantee me a scholarship,” Floyd said. “I didn’t want to visit out there, not get offered and then come back home and have my offer from CSU given to another player. I’m just happy with the way things worked out and excited to be a Ram.”
