Clemson moves into lead for Bandy

MIAMI -- On Friday night, Trajan Bandy sealed a narrow victory for his team with an interception as time expired. Shortly after the celebration died down, the four-star cornerback jogged off the field and named a new leader in his recruitment.

It's early in the process for the class-of-2017 prospect. Things will likely change in the coming months. But, at least for now, a new school has unseated Tennessee as the frontrunner to land his commitment.
"Let me tell you, it's always neck and neck," Bandy said. "Tennessee was my first offer, but Clemson and Brent Venables are right there. He's an unbelievable guy. He stays in my head and stays in my ear. I'm always thinking about him. I think Clemson is leading by just a little bit right now."
According to Bandy, his close relationship with Venables combined with a chance at early playing time is what has given Clemson an early edge.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Bandy has no solid plans for in-season visits but says he would like to tour the in-state schools when he gets an off weekend. Clemson and Tennessee remain the frontrunners, however, and offseason trip sto the campus of each seem likely.
IN HIS WORDS: "I'm getting a bunch of mail and stuff coming in from all schools," Bandy said on Friday. "Virginia Tech, Alabama. Mario Cristobal is talking to me from 'Bama. The Florida Gators are in contact. Obviously, Tennessee and Clemson are talking to me a lot. Duke, too. It's schools all over the place.
."
RIVALS' REACTION: Clemson is the leader for Bandy, sure. At the same time, things could change drastically as new interest arrives. It's highly unlikely that the 2017 prospect has received his last scholarship offer. With Alabama and the in-state programs still lying in the weeds, there's no telling what could happen going forward. That said, Clemson's recent recruiting success in Florida makes the Tigers a serious threat to land Bandy even at this early juncture.
