Offering Rivals100 linebacker Justin Foster first has paid off for Clemson in the form of his commitment. The Shelby (N.C.) Crest star announced his commitment to the Tigers on his Twitter account.
IN HIS OWN WORDS…
“They’ve been in touch ever since the beginning,” said Foster. “They kind of got my recruiting started off. They were my first offer. My sister went down there, and my whole family liked it. Everyone around here in North Carolina loves Clemson. So it’s a great place down there with the atmosphere and all the coaches. It’s somewhere I feel like I can make an impact on defense.
“I feel like I could play at a lot of different levels,” he said. “I feel I could play at like a standup defensive end, but I can play linebacker and in space. I can come off the edge or even be an inside linebacker for them. It depends on how coach feels like using me.
“I would say I have pretty close relationships with coach Venables and coach Brooks. I’m also close with Carlos Watkins, the defensive end from Forest City. I knew him growing up and watched him all through high school. Him and Jonathan Bullard were competing. He’s there right now and doing pretty well. I talk to him every time I go down there.”
RIVALS’ REACTION
Foster has a ton of potential and should fit in well at Clemson. He is a big time hitter with good instincts and patience. Foster is big for an outside linebacker but has the quickness in short distances to stay at linebacker is they want him to. With his frame, quickness, and physicality, Foster might be better suited for defensive end if he gets any bigger in college.
