Clemson impresses four-star safety

The nation’s 12th-rated safety prospect made an official visit with Clemson this weekend.
“Everything went well,” said four-star Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern defensive back C.J. Barber. “I enjoyed myself a lot. It’s a nice campus and a nice coaching staff. They have some cool players there. Jamaal Fudge was my host. We had a good time hanging out and getting to know all the other players.”

Barber (6-2, 215, 4.5) says he’s narrowed his choice down to the arch-rival Tigers and Gamecocks. He’ll visit South Carolina this coming weekend.
“I’ll probably make my decision next Sunday after I get back from that trip,” he said. “I’m ready to do it.”
Anyone hold the edge right now?
“They’re even,” he said. “I really can’t name a leader right now. With Clemson, I like the direction they’re headed. They had a big season, came off a nice bowl win. I think they’re going to have another good team next year.
“South Carolina needs some help right now. I think I’d have a chance to come in and help them pretty early. Plus, they have a lot of players that I know, that I’ve played with or against. I feel pretty comfortable the times I’ve been there.”
