Clemson gets 2017 OL DeHond

Recent visits to Alabama and Clemson helped 2017 offensive tackle Noah DeHond decide he was ready to end his recruitment. On Monday evening, the Highstown (N.J.) The Peddie School star announced his commitment to Clemson.

"When I visited there it just felt like the right fit for me," said the 6-foot-7, 325-pound DeHond. "The coaching staff was wonderful and the atmosphere with the team was great. The facilities are fantastic. It's a really good school. It's everything I'm looking for in a school."
Clemson fans can thank two coaches for getting DeHond's commitment.
"I really like the way coach Caldwell works," he said. "He's an old school guy who will get in your face and coach you up. Coach Venables is my recruiting coach and he's a great guy. I have a really good relationship with him."
It is a long way until National Signing Day 2017 but that doesn't mean much to DeHond.
"I didn't really want to wait too long," DeHond said. "Junior year at a school like Peddie can get pretty stressful and I don't need another thing to think about. I found everything I was looking for there and I didn't see the point in waiting."
More than one commitment is quickly becoming the norm in today's recruiting world but DeHond says we shouldn't expect that from him.
"My recruitment is done," he said. "I see kids decommit a lot but my word is my word. I want it to mean something. I can say my recruitment is over."
DeHond played last season at Rochester (N.Y.) Mcquaid Jesuit School before transferring to The Peddie School and reclassifying to 2017.
