Clemson is expected to be one of the top teams in the country this coming football season and, with today’s commitment from Rivals250 defensive end Jordan Williams, the Tigers could end up with one of the top rated recruiting classes too.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

"I feel like Clemson is a perfect fit for my family and me. We went down there for a visit and talked through everything on the academic side. We know what to expect from the football side with the success they’ve had at my position. I know I’m going to be taught everything I need to know from coach Hobby and coach Venables.

"The cook out was a mainly academic visit for me. I was able to talk to the people I’m not going to be with on the football field like the academic advisers and the player development guys. It was really huge for me to see all of that and then to get on campus and see all the dorms and take all the campus in.

"I watched Vic Beasley play a lot and I feel like we have the same body type, play quick, and are violent. I think that’s who I can model myself after.

"I’m looking forward to seeing how classes are going to be and what it’s going to be like living on campus and having that college experience. I’m ready to go in and compete for a job on day one."

RIVALS’ REACTION

Williams is a defensive end that can do a little bit of everything. He can rush the passer using inside and outside routes and he is strong enough to hold his own at the line of scrimmage to defend against the run. Williams has a big frame with plenty of room to add muscle and is athletic enough to keep that extra weight from slowing him down. Look for Williams to compete for a starting spot relatively early in his career.
