Clear leader for DT Kilgo

Since arriving at North Carolina, Butch Davis has done an excellent job of recruiting some elite defensive linemen to Chapel Hill.
Over the years the Tar Heels have had plenty of standouts on the defensive line. They appear to be restoring that tradition with guys like Marvin Austin, Jared McAdoo, Robert Quinn, Quinton Coples and Donte Moss in recent classes.

Now one of the state's top defensive tackles from the Class of 2010 -- and perhaps one of the best in the region -- is already saying he wants to be a Tar Heel.
"I'm currently in touch with UNC a lot," said Matthews (N.C.) Weddington junior Darius Kilgo. "Maryland and Tennessee, too. I have an offer from Illinois. NC State talked about offering me and UNC said they plan on offering me on junior day, which is (February) 28.
"The thing I like about UNC is when they came to see me at the school they told me to keep in touch. I've just been calling the coaches just about every day and just talking to them, so hopefully they'll offer and I'll commit with no problem.
"I think UNC is the place for me to be. I also plan on going up to UNC for a basketball game on (February) 21 to tour the campus. Then that Sunday I'll be attending the NIKE Combine in Charlotte."
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound defensive tackle runs the 40-yard dash in 5.28 seconds and bench presses 340 pounds. This past fall as a junior at Weddington he recorded 10 sacks.
