Clear Lake DE commits to UNT

Houston Clear Lake almost always has one of the top offenses in the area. However, it is one of the Falcon defenders that was the most highly-recruited player on the team this year.
Defensive end Austin Orr has seen quite a bit of college attention as of late. After gaining 20 pounds since his junior year, he measures in at 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds with very good athleticism. He recently decided to pledge to an in-state program.

"I committed to North Texas this weekend," Orr said on Monday. "I was up there on my official visit."
Orr says a number of factors led him to choose the Mean Green.
"It's close to home," he said. "It's only about a five-hour drive. I have some family up in Dallas and Waco so the location was pretty nice. They have all new facilities and a brand new stadium. They also have a new really good coaching staff."
With new head coach Dan McCarney taking over the helm, Orr sees good things in the future for the team.
"Last year they came close to winning a lot of games," he said. "Five of their losses, they only lost by a touchdown or less so they're close to being up there. We're looking to win a bunch of ballgames next year."
The big defender had a chance to meet some of his fellow commits as well as current players while in Denton.
"I was up there with some other recruits," Orr said. "Most of them were already committed. My roommate was Cooper Jones and there was a cornerback from Kempner (Jamone Greer) there as well. My host was Daniel Prior. He's a tight end and fullback."
Orr committed to North Texas over several other offers. He had already officially visited one school before them as well.
"I had offers from New Mexico State, Montana State and Texas State," he said. "I also had some smaller DII type offers. I went to New Mexico State last weekend on an official."
