Clarke closing in on an offer

Still without an offer, Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) Hanover Area offensive guard Brian Clarke is getting closer. The 6-foot-4, 282-pounder is working on plans for June in hopes of picking up his first scholarship.
"Nobody has offered yet, but all the schools want me to come to their camps," he said. "I'm thinking about going to Pittsburgh, Connecticut and possibly Syracuse in June.

"A few other schools have been by too like Albany, Temple, Penn State and West Virginia."
Currently Clarke claims no favorites, but he did discuss what he wants in a college.
"I'm not sure what I want to study, but I want to get a good education somewhere," he stated. "I'd like to play for a decent team with good tradition and get a chance for playing time. I've never sat out before and don't know what it is like to sit. I think I do want to redshirt my freshman year though."
Last month the Keystone State lineman took a couple visits to Penn State and Connecticut.
"Penn State was pretty sweet," he said. "I went to their blue and white game. Walking into the stadium and getting down on the field, it's a different atmosphere. The offensive line seemed like a pretty good group of guys and I was able to talk to Dick Anderson for a bit too.
"It was real nice up at Connecticut too. They are remodeling everything and it's state of the art. I talked to coach Hughes and he's a really down-to-earth guy."
Clarke earned all-conference and all-state honors as a junior last season.
