Clark locked in with Virginia Tech

ORLANDO, Fla – These days, news on Braxton Clark's recruitment is slow to non-existent. The Virginia Tech coaching staff won’t mind that much, though. The long, rangy defensive back is seemingly locked in with the Hokies and has now turned his attention to his senior season.

Clark’s recruitment doesn’t seem like a battle that will rage on until Singing Day. Instead, this seems like closed case. His commitment to Virginia Tech, it seems, will stick.

“I’ve pretty much shut it all down. I’m with Virginia Tech right now. It’s pretty much done."

Clark, who attends Florida’s Dr. Phillips High School, chose the Hokies over offers from Rutgers, Boston College and others.

IN HIS WORDS:

“Everything’s real good with Tech. I actually just talked to them today before the game. They want me to get up there soon.”

“They like long DBs like me, so they think I fit into the scheme well. They want to use me at corner because they like my size there.”

“I like Coach [Galen] Scott because that’s the coach recruiting me. He’s from Orlando too, so he represents.”

RIVLAS REACTION: There isn’t much news here. Clark will likely sign with Tech on Signing Day and that will be that. His performance in his team’s season-opening game was extremely uneven. He missed a few easy tackles, one of which resulted in a score for the opponent but he also intercepted a pass that helped his team seal a victory. There are worse things for a prospect to be than hot and cold, however, as Clark has a number of physical tools that make his upside interesting.
